I am a painter and printmaker now living in West Marin. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, I grew up in Los Angeles, moving to San Francisco in my early twenties. As an adult I had the good fortune to travel extensively and also live in Europe, yet I always yearned to return to the Bay Area. I now live in West Marin, and have maintained my studio at the ICB in Sausalito, CA for over 20 years. I cherish my connection with the many wonderful artists at the ICB.

My earliest memories are of making art and wanting to be an artist. I studied Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Textiles at Cal -State Fullerton, earning a B.F.A.

I continued to make art and returned to academia to earn an M.F.A. at Claremont Graduate University. While at Claremont I also studied various periods in Art History and I developed a deep appreciation for historical Artists and historical artwork and architecture. These studies, coupled with my time traveling and living in Europe, have given me much personal inspiration for my own work.

Additional influences and passions are Music (especially Opera) and meeting other artists. I love sharing and seeing others create, and have taught courses in Fine Arts in numerous institutions, including San Jose State, De Anza Junior College, and the Gale Laurence Studio in San Francisco. I currently teach printmaking and drawing workshops at my studio in Woodacre.

My work continues to evolve, reflecting experiences and perceptions of my surroundings. I continue to search for new ways to express my thoughts visually, experimenting with various techniques and mediums. I strive to create work that engages the viewer with a starting point, and then continue on his or her own personal path of interpretation. I like working in layers, and find painting and printmaking are especially conducive to my process. I have recently been working with graphite, simply drawing into a painted surface on a wood panel.

My artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the country, including the Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian, Purdue University, Weber State College, Linhearst Gallery at USC, Artspace in Los Angeles and Cameraworks in San Francisco. My work has been included in the annual “Bay Area Women Artists” exhibit at O’Hanlon Center for the Arts every year for the past four years.
