I started my career in 1988 on the HIV unit at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF). As I reflect on those years and now as we live with COVID - I find myself imagining what my AIDS patients might have looked like had they lived and grown old. I am deeply involved in giving voice to those who are marginalized through my art. I am interested in the human experience and in our memories, our legacy and how we are remembered. I am interested in personal stories, and what makes us who we are. My art is influenced by finding purpose and meaning in my life and understanding what it means to be alive.
