I’m a painter, and have been as long as I remember. When I moved to San Francisco in 1981 I began showing my work in several Bay Area galleries, including Shorebirds in Belvedere, Greenleaf Gallery in Saratoga and The SFMOMA Rental Gallery in San Francisco. Along the way, I was a textile designer for a children’s clothing company, a costume maker for a theater, a restaurant owner, and interior designer. All of those experiences continue to influence my art.

I graduated with a BFA in painting from UMass in Amherst, MA, and also studied at the Museum schools in Boston and Worcester, MA and Rhode Island School of Design. Franz Kline, Robert Rauschenberg and Nathan Olivera have been the 3 strongest influences on my work.

My work is mostly larger scale abstracts. I use mixed media: acrylics, oils, pastels, graphite, torn paper, old photos, simple objects and layers of paint, which are sometimes covered in resin. I love the process of taking a blank canvas and using my surrounding environment- reflections of the subtle changes of the seasons, fog and water and their simple, moody watery theme, the changing light over the water, which creates an ethereal atmosphere.
